7 and 12-Spot LED Lights / Pedants
7 Spot LED Lights | LED Aquarium Lights | Aquarium Lighting | SaltwaterEddies.com
A Big bang for the buck in an LED spot type light for coral reef tanks is the Aqua Medic's AquaSunSpots;
I have used (and still do), both the 7 and the 12 LED AquaSunSpot Pendants, or spotlights from Aqua Medic. I have a "box of rocks" ~250lbs I saved from a 90 gallon reef tank breakdown. I was/am keeping them because they are the single most costly item on a new setup in the near future. I was lighting the tank (~50 long shallow frag bed type tank) with T5's across. Some softies started to reappear from the live rocks, mostly Yuma Riccordia, disc mushrooms, GSP and such. But when I saw a frag of my old magnificent pink birdnest, I needed to get some better lighting, as I think I want to grow it again.
I picked up the 7-LED model to spot just the frag, not caring much about lighting for the rocks and softies.
These are really great because for one thing you just screw the into an ordinary light socket for a PAR 38 LED Spot! It looked OK, but i realized i really did need more light spread to cover all the tank (about 4' long), so I got a 12-spot. HOLLY Molly! They are bight. They seem like much more than just a 90 LUM/Watt increase in light. What a beast of a spot! I would highly recommend this 12-spot version for anyone running Nano tank needing an inexpensive LED lighting solution short of getting one of the adjustable high tech modules out there. And for a Pico tank, the 7-spot would do. I can't say enough about the 12-spot though. Kudos Aqua Medic USA!
